Rogers Communications Inc introduces a new home monitoring service this month for Ontario Rogers Hi-Speed Internet customers. The home monitoring system allows customers to operate and manage their home security systems, thermostats, lights, webcams and small appliances remotely using a computer or smartphone.
Costing anywhere from USD 39.99 to USD 57.99 per month the home monitoring product range includes 24-hour security vigilance by the Rogers Central Monitoring Station so that help services can be dispatched immediately in case of a disaster or medical emergency.
The home monitoring system keeps check on water leaks, carbon monoxide levels and room temperature. In case an alarm sets off the touchpad connects with the Rogers monitoring station over Rogers' cable and wireless networks to ensure speedy assistance. The home monitoring system also comprised a web-based camera system that is connected by the internet to a computer or smartphone. The cameras send a photo via text message or email when someone walks through a user's front door or when any other sensor is triggered.

Canada's largest cable operator, Roger's Communications is using iControl networks' open home management software to control its home automation and monitoring service.
Roger's smart home automation system lets their users manage sensors, cameras, thermostats, lights and also small appliances from their smart phones.
In a statement by the Co CEO of Roger's, Jim Johnson revealed that Roger's home automation systems are the leading broadband home management company in Canada, and after they start providing this service their users would be able to protect and manage their homes in a much better way.
Comcast, Time Warner Cable and ADT security have also launched a very similar home automation service which works on the iControl Platform.

Due to the recent boom in consumer interest in home automation, fiber optics giants Verizon and Comcast have entered the home automation and security services. Comcast and Verizon have each launched a vast range of home automation services that guarantee home security and complete domain safety. A demonstration of Verizon Home Monitoring and Control system showed that the complete home automation can take place by linking the system with a tablet, smartphone, PC, laptop or television to control and monitor devices in the house.
Verizon has fine-tuned the system with home automation specialists 4Home and Schlage, and it provides services like remote controlled smart power switch, security camera monitoring, door sensors and automatic notification process. Comcast has also come up with new Xfinity Home Security, which focuses more on guarding, with complete fire-alarm and police protection.
